Information about Hackathon:
What is a Hackathon?
Hackathons are a design sprint-like event, where groups of participants develop projects or products as part of a creative problem solving process. The participants are faced with a technological, political or social issue that they have to find innovative solutions to, while receiving topical inputs and mentoring by experts in the field.
When and where?
The Athens Hackathon is a 2-day workshop, where like-minded liberal people come together to solve a hot problem of our time: social inclusion and integration. It will take place in Porto Rafti (East Attica) from 5 to 6 October 2019.
How does it work?
Participants will form groups of four, take out their laptops or notepads, and dive into the issue. What does it mean to be different in modern Europe? How strong is discrimination today? With what ideas can we come up to overcome? All these questions will they have to ask themselves to develop projects, campaigns or products to make sure that all people, regardless of their religion, sexual orientation or race, together promote advancement and prosperity of their society. During the event, the groups will receive topical input and mentoring sessions by experts from the relevant field, in order to gain more insight and develop their innovative idea/project.
Is there any prize?
All groups will present their finished projects on Sunday 6 October. The winner(s) will receive the prize money of 1.000 EUR. But wait, there is more! The winning team qualifies directly for the FNF Global Innovation Congress in Berlin, on 6 November 2019, with all their expenses sponsored by the Foundation. There, they will have the chance to present their project and take part in different panels and workshops.
